Mastiffs are a great dog breed to have as a pet. I know that I have one and he is one of the best pets that I have ever had. I know that for some people they will find them intimidating because of the sheer size that they do grow up to be. I know that for me this was a consideration that I had to take into account because I have two little babies and several other dogs. However, after I purchased my Mastiff I realized that he was one of the best ones that I would ever have. The key that you will need to realize when you have a pet this size is that you are going to have to ensure that you do get them into obedience training.

I know that some owners of a Mastiff will agree with that statement, while others will say that their dog listens to them without them having to worry about the behavior. However, for the safety of you, your family, and friends then you will want to make sure that you have obedience training.

Not only that if you are going to show your pet in dog shows at all you are going to want to make sure that you are going to have control over them that obedience training can provide for you.

Now if you are wanting to just have your Mastiff as a family pet you will still want to strongly consider obedience training because they are so large. Even if you think that they are the going to be perfectly fine with any animal that is domesticated you will want to help them learn commands so that they know what to do when you tell them to.
